In neighboring Dearborn Heights, with another large Arab American community, Trump claimed 44 percent to Harris’s 38 perfect, marking a shift once unthinkable toward a man who had spent his first run for president demonizing Muslims in America and enacting a Muslim ban during his first term in office.

While Biden won the state with more than 623,000 votes, the results in Dearborn, Dearborn Heights and Hamtramck highlight the challenge his reelection campaign faces in a swing state that each major party has said they must win to take the White House in November.

“As stores have accommodated for Easter and Christmas for centuries, I’m glad to see them bring in Ramadan items,” said Hass Beydoun of Dearborn Heights, Michigan.

At Crestwood High School in Dearborn Heights, where most of the football team is Muslim, the entire team gathers before practices and games to pray on one knee.
