Cuyp

Back on the bike, I whizzed along Singelgracht, following the waterway south across the Amstel to the Albert Cuyp market in De Pijp.

The Albert Cuyp Market is a traditional Dutch market in northern Amsterdam, just by the fashionable neighborhood De Pijp, whose winding streets are lined with hip boutiques and restaurants.

Vendors were still setting up when we arrived at the Albert Cuyp Market and made our way to the Original Stroopwafels stand, where proprietor Dennis Joinking, 41, was already serving a clamoring crowd.

The distinctive white-and-red stroopwafel booth is tucked among fishmongers, piles of fresh fruit and vintage clothing stands in the center of the busy outdoor Albert Cuyp Market.

Among the artists included in the show are some of the great masters of the age, including Jan van Goyen, Aelbert Cuyp, Rembrandt van Rijn and Willem van de Velde the Younger.
