Current research shows that 91% of households earning $35,000 or less used CTC funds for food, utilities, rent and education.

If you’ve used the child tax credit, or CTC, in the past, it’s important to remember that this benefit for families with children has undergone some significant changes.

But under the existing CTC, about 19 million children aren’t receiving the full payment because their parents earn too little or no income.

The extended CTC would have made us somewhat competitive with other rich nations, at a net annual savings of more than $50 billion.

With the 60-vote Senate filibuster intact, Democrats need the support of at least 10 Republicans to revive the expanded CTC in some form.
