The moratorium comes as Crestone Peak Resources is seeking permits to drill more than 100 wells in the county.

The Boulder Daily Camera reports that Colorado Parks and Wildlife made the recommendations based on Crestone Peak Resources’ third draft of a proposed plan to drill wells in eastern Boulder County.

The Daily Camera reports that the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment suggested this week that the Crestone Peak Resources wells be built along Colorado Highway 52 instead.

Days later, Crestone Peak Resources applied to drill up to 216 wells in the county, the first such application in five years.
