After passing through the airport, the tornado crossed the Missouri River and into Iowa, north of Council Bluffs.

“I never sat down and watched March Madness on TV until Caitlin Clark,” said Pawloski, who watched the game with a few dozen other Iowa fans in a bar in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

He changed phones, got a new job and moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa, in hopes of rebuilding his life away from Farver.

“Most of the talk is about border security and the economy and inflation, national issues rather than Iowa-centric,” said Brent Siegrist, a state representative in Council Bluffs.

“He’s just kind of no nonsense,” said Durham, a 47-year-old from Council Bluffs.
