A man has been charged with murder over the fatal shooting of a 60-year-old grandfather in Co Durham, police say.

Durham Constabulary said Kevin Dorward, 38, of Annfield Plain, Co Durham, had been charged with murder while Michaela Hetherington, 35, also of Annfield Plain, had been charged with perverting the course of justice.

It has not been confirmed what prison she will be sent to, but there is speculation it will be HMP Low Newton in Co Durham.
