The trial of Jacob Joseph Dix, 29, of Clarksville, Ohio, would be the first test of a 2002 law that makes it a felony to burn something to intimidate and cause fear of injury or death.

Police in neighboring Clarksville, Tennessee, said Dueñas Aguilar was found dead in a residence there on May 18 and her death was ruled a homicide.

The Clarksville Police Department and Army criminal investigators are working together on the investigation.

“It’s crazy,” said Ora Dorsey, a 43-year-old Army veteran in Clarksville, Tenn. “It does make it hard to get out of debt. It seems like you’re only paying the interest.”
