Poilievre even sought to paint his rival as "Carbon Tax Carney".

An earlier proposal to apply a blanket carbon tax or levy - which would have been a world first - was dropped.

He also ended Trudeau's signature carbon tax climate policy, which had faced heavy criticism by the Conservatives.
