The film stars Grande as Glinda and Slater as Boq, a Munchkin friend at Shiz University.

Seeing Boq wrestle with his feelings for Nessa, and the belief that she could have that love reciprocated, again is unique considering how that is usually always prioritized for white women in disabled narratives.

Nessa and Boq then join hands for a brief but jubilant dance break that ends up being one of the movie’s most romantic scenes.

Scott collaborated with wheelchair choreographer and dancer Hannah Raynor to create the sequence, which sees Boq swinging Nessa around the floor and dancing on his knees while looking her in the eye.

Among them is a candid shot of Slater — who plays Boq, of Munchkinland — carrying the train of Grande’s Glinda-inspired Vivienne Westwood gown as she makes her way down the stairs at Sydney’s State Theatre.
