Biscayne Bay

The Pérez Art Museum Miami, overlooking Biscayne Bay in the city’s downtown, is just a few miles from Overtown, a historically Black neighborhood once known as the “Harlem of the South.”

She recently bought a condo in Coconut Grove, a leafy upscale Miami neighborhood near Biscayne Bay.

This far into Florida’s dry season, the air was thick with the smell of mud wafting up from the exposed canals and wetlands along the edge of Biscayne Bay, south of Miami.

Sharks love Biscayne Bay, with hammerhead, bull and tiger sharks among the many species found in the region.

She swam the distance of a full marathon in the rough waters of Biscayne Bay, Florida.
