When French novelist Marie-Henri Beyle — better known as Stendhal — paid a visit to the Basilica di Santa Croce in Florence, Italy, in the early 1800s, he became so overcome with emotion after gazing upon Volterrano’s “Sybils” that he not only experienced palpitations of the heart, “the well-spring of life was dried up within me, and I walked in constant fear of falling to the ground.”

Beyle’s survivors also include four children and eight grandchildren.

Thad Beyle worked at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for 35 years, performing research on gubernatorial powers.

Beyle once served as chairman of the North Carolina Center for Public Policy Research and N.C.

Hours before voting was due to start, the chairman of the presidential election committee, Abdirahman Beyle, told MPs they would not be allowed to enter the voting hall with their mobile phones.
