The Secret Service faced intense scrutiny over how the shooter from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was able to open fire on the former president.

Somewhere in that crowd was Crooks, a 20-year-old from nearby Bethel Park.

He conducted internet searches for appearances by both Trump and President Biden before seemingly settling on the Butler location 50 miles from his home in Bethel Park, Pa., law enforcement sources told The Times.

He worked as a dietary aide at a Bethel Park nursing home.

A person not authorized to discuss the investigation said that Crooks’ father purchased the rifle in 2013 and that Crooks purchased about 50 rounds from Allegheny Arms & Gun Works in Bethel Park, Pa., on the morning of the shooting.
