Rydz, from Bedlington in Northumberland, meets Germany's Martin Schindler in the second round on Sunday evening.

The shootout is thought to be the joint-third longest of all time, only trailing a match between Washington and Bedlington, which took 54 penalties before the former came out on top 25-24, and KK Palace and Civics, which required 48 spot-kicks for Palace to take victory 17-16.

There are plans for new stations at at Ashington, Bedlington, Blyth, Bebside, Newsham, Seaton Delaval, and Northumberland Park, in North Tyneside, as well as upgrades to the track and changes to level crossings where new bridges or underpasses were needed, the Department for Transport said.

The hedgehog, thought to be six weeks old, was found in Bedlington and following treatment it is hoped it will recover.

Wayne Havenhand, who hails from Bedlington, Northumbria, said he was "over the moon" with the photo, adding it's hard to get photos of long-eared owls due to their elusiveness.
