Bardolino

If you prefer a red, I would go for something light, like a Valpolicella Classico or Bardolino from the Veneto region of Italy, a Ribera Sacra from Spain or a French Beaujolais or Beaujolais-Villages.

The wines Valpolicella, Bardolino and Soave became well known and highly popular, especially the Soave, or, as the announcer would croon, “Soave Bolla.”

Katell Pleven, of the Vine Collective, has seen more interest in another light Veneto red, Bardolino.

Bardolino, the appellation next door, has much in common with Valpolicella.

Perhaps Bardolino is a rising new star?
