The president of the country's majority-Serb Republika Srpska region told supporters at a rally in the regional capital Banja Luka there was "no reason to worry".

He was taken to a hospital in the town of Banja Luka.

Tuesday’s planned celebrations in the northwestern town of Banja Luka include a parade of police forces.

"This is an ugly political message," said Gordana Katana, a journalist and activist from the Serb Republic's city of Banja Luka.

"News reporting will become a mission impossible, investigative journalism will seize to exist and all citizens will feel effects on their own skin," Sinisa Vukelic, the president of the Banja Luka Journalists Club, said last week at a protest during which reporters symbolically taped their mouths.
