“The Dumb Waiter” I’ve had a chance to work with a wonderful actor and a lovely man lately called Arliss Howard.

Maybe Arliss and I will do it one of these days.

Arliss French — “Frenchy” to his friends — managed a Red Owl grocery store in Appleton, Wis. Red Owl was a regional chain, with stores across the Midwest.

After a Red Owl regional manager spotted the Burma-Shave Mars sign, he immediately thought of Arliss French.

But I was on a show in the ‘90s and the ‘00s called “Arliss” on early HBO, and there was swearing on that show, and they were like ... no.
