Arabian jasmine

Today it teems with Arabian jasmine, turmeric and coffee plants.

The Arabian jasmine recalls the garden plants of Obama’s native Hawaii; the chrysanthemum is the official flower of Chicago; and the African lily, or agapanthus, an allusion to his Kenyan forebears.

The principal among them are the Arabian jasmine, jasminum sambac, and the Cape jasmine, jasminum fragrans.

Between two little walls of verdure, covered with Arabian jasmine and odorous creepers, could be seen, in the horizon, the sea and the hills of the other islands.

The flower markets blaze with many-coloured roses, tons of gardenias and a wealth of white heavy-scented flowers, such as tuberoses and Arabian jasmine.
