Angelic Doctor

The angelic doctor means here living faith, or fides formata.

Thomas Aquinas, one of the greatest of the scholastic philosophers, surnamed the "Angelic Doctor," is delivering a learned discourse before King Louis IX.

The account there given of it is not uninteresting, and is preceded by a cursory advertence to the other hymns of the Middle Ages, including a Greek version of some of the stanzas of Thomas Aquinas, the "Angelic Doctor's," impressive "Lauda Sion."

But there are some who have been unable to convince themselves that the Angelic Doctor has made his mind entirely clear on the subject.
