"A key takeaway from this study is that we can use what we know about how deep the roots of different types of plants tend to be to approximate what groundwater levels are needed to maintain ecosystem health," said co-author Dr. Christine Albano from DRI.

Albano, “Madina” composer Fabio Vacchi and conductor Michele Gamba were also among the dozens of La Scala performers and staff who stood beneath the banner.

“We went through them all page by page to make sure every page was there,” said Jessica Albano, head of UW Libraries’ government publications, maps, microforms and newspapers.

“It’s the nicest moment for a woman, to nurture a child,” said Albano.
