Who uses ñ?

ñ is considered vulgar in Spanish, especially when used of female genitalia, but that doesn’t stop it from being incredibly versatile.

Outside of its use as sexual slang, it can variously express surprise, dismay, and anger, like shouting Fuck! or Fucking hell! in English.

Expect to encounter ñ in the sexed-up and slanged-up lyrics of reggaeton, a Latin-American rap that started in Puerto Rico.

Needless to say, you don’t want to be saying ñ around your abuelita.
