smallmouth bass vs. largemouth bass: 's the difference?
Smallmouth bass and largemouth bass are both North American freshwater fish popular as game fish. As indicated by the names, the best way to tell them apart is mouth size. But there are other differences: smallmouth bass live in cooler water and are often browner and have a vertical stripe pattern. Largemouth bass prefer warmer water and are generally larger and greener. Another main difference is the upper jaw: in largemouth bass, it extends past their eye; in smallmouth bass, it extends to the eye but not past.
