custard vs. ice cream

custard vs. ice cream: 's the difference?

Ice cream is traditionally made with cream, milk, sugar, and sometimes egg yolk (though some things called “ice cream” are entirely nondairy). Custard is made with eggs, sugar, and milk. It’s often served warm and has a pudding-like consistency, but sometimes it’s frozen—“frozen custard” is basically ice cream. However, in the U.S., FDA guidelines stipulate that for a product to be considered “frozen custard,” it must consist of a certain percentage of egg yolk.
